We are pleased to announce a brand new series of art classes for adults for 2017. Included are new offerings in drawing, painting, glass beadmaking and printmaking. This current schedule features all evening classes, though weekend workshops and other offerings are in the works.

To register, simply fill out the downloadable entry form and return it with your payment by mail, email or simply drop it off at the gallery! Enrollment forms are also available at the gallery any time.

June 10
Pencil Drawing
9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Instructor: Jana Botkin

This workshop teaches realistic detailed pencil drawing from photos. Advancing your skill set or new to drawing? All levels welcome.

SUPPLIES OR MATERIALS: This workshop is for all levels. The materials will be provided for the class. The student would only need to provide their own lunch, as the class extends through the lunch period.

CLASS TUITION: $85

June 24
Baskets 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Instructor: Toni Best

Students will have the option of working on one of three basket techniques for basket weaving. The Sampler Basket allows students to learn four different stitches in one piece. The Fascicle Basket uses fascicles or tops of the pine needles to create a pattern. The last option is Floating Coil Floating Coils which allows students to create a base of three coils and then create a floating coil which does not connect with all of the previous coils and opens the student’s imagination for creativity.

SUPPLIES OR MATERIALS: The instructor provides all of the materials. All that would be required of the student is to provide their own lunch, as the class extends through the lunch period.

Controlling the Image and its Meaning

Instructor: Ron Holman

A brief discussion about manual settings and exposure control on DSLRs followed by a brief photo walk around Arts Visalia to experiment with these ideas ending with discussion of the results and how emotion and information are conveyed visually. Limited to 15 students of any level.

SUPPLIES OR MATERIALS: This workshop is for all levels of photographers. Each student should bring their own DSLR camera, memory card, and fresh batteries to take pictures. All other materials needed will be provided. The student would also need to provide their own lunch, as the class extends through the lunch period.

Print Madness
9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Instructor: Francisco Alonzo

Print based class with home printing emphasis. This workshop will be in experimental printmaking without the use of the press, using various relief and stencil making materials to create prints.

SUPPLIES OR MATERIALS: Materials will be provided for the class. Students would need to provide their own lunch as the class extends through the lunch period.

3-Dimensions

Instructor: Andrew Turner

An exploratory adventure unique to each artist and the challenges they face while assembling a one of a kind sculpture made from found objects in a way that takes form and comes to life.

Printmaking

The in-depth instruction of the process of printmaking using the printmaking press.
