Volunteering at Arts Visalia is a great way to get involved in your local community and the arts, and is also a great way to meet new people, learn about exhibiting artists, and gain insight into new opportunities in the arts community.

What to expect when volunteering:
Depending on the needs of the gallery, you may be asked to do any of the following:

Docent: 
As a docent you will be the first face that visitors see when they come to the gallery. You’ll be responsible for greeting guests and answering questions about the current artwork displayed or other questions they may have about our center (staff is around to assist when there is a question you need help with or when a guest wants to purchase something). You will be seated at the docent desk where there will be a binder for you to keep track of how many guests have come in during your volunteer shift. During your time between guests, feel free to read a book, work on a laptop, create artwork, etc while you are docenting (any quiet activity will work).

Promote:
Help spread the word about Arts Visalia by taking promo materials around town, sharing about Arts Visalia on social media, or other creative tasks.

Upkeep: 
Help keep Arts Visalia clean and organized. Arts Visalia has a lot of moving parts and it takes a group effort to keep everything in its place.

Exhibition Install/Uninstall:
Learn what it takes to set up an art gallery. Install days are the Wednesday-Thursday leading up to the first Friday of each month. Exhibitions are uninstalled on the last Saturday of the month.
