Through her photographic lens, Halonnah Hope Kay documents and celebrates her process of recovery using symbolic imagery in A Safe Place. In recovery, the circular process allows for the recreation of the self. Using the layers in her mind and a continuous return to the beginning and back through the process again Kay recreates this circular process with her work. In recovery many seek a safe place to wonder and contemplate. There is comfort in the knowledge that abstract memories can create change through the mind and become a flat, 2D expression of reality using abstract photography.
