I am a mixed media artist and muralist who enjoys blending realism and abstract techniques to depict human beings with marginalized gender identities. The current
international lack of diverse representation in education and visual arts has, in part, led many people to believe that gender diversity is new, or even non-existent. To help address this, I use watercolor, India inks, acrylic, spray paint, charcoal, and oil to authentically represent actual transgender people, both living and deceased, historical or modern, famous or anonymous, to raise awareness and to humanize my community in the eyes of those outside it. My favorite medium is spray paint, and I often combine it with acrylic, and sometimes add fun things like glitter, rhinestones, sequins, fabric, modeling paste, jewelry, and even random trinkets I find on the side of the road. I especially love working on damaged substrates like torn paper or a canvas with holes in it. I take particular interest in representing gentleness, emotions, healing, and the brevity and fragility of human life. I especially like to celebrate uniqueness, pain and grief, resilience, vulnerability, passion, and love. Through art, I hope to inspire unity and compassion, so that all people can live without the constant fear of how we will be treated by others for simply being different.
I am a mixed media artist, muralist, and sculptor from Yosemite, California. In 2021, I was the recipient of the Monochrome Award from the J. Mane Gallery, and my work has been featured in a few art journals in the U.S., U.K., and Slovakia, including Cream City Review, ArtWife, High Shelf Press, Trans Muted, TransJoy Media, Revue Prostor, and others. My most recent exhibitions were at the Fresno Arts Council, Arts Visalia, and the Brandon-Mitchell Gallery. In 2021, my painting Androgynous won the Monochrome art award by J. Mane Gallery.
