May 1st – May 28th, 2010
Reception: Saturday, May 8th, 6-8pm
Artist Talk: Saturday, May 15th, 7pm
The paintings of renowned local painter Abby Rubinstein will be featured at Arts Visalia during the month of May. In an exhibition titled, A Dialogue In Paint, Rubinstein will share dozens of her lively, colorful works with visitors to our gallery. Those who are familiar with Rubinstein’s paintings will know the vibrancy of her colors and the expressionistic character of her brushwork. If you have not previously seen her work, this exhibition will be one that will remain in your imagination afterward. While painting in a figurative, representational manner, Rubinstein’s work describes attitude and emotion, creating the suggestion of mood and atmosphere in a way that parallels nature rather than imitating it.
Abby Rubinstein: A Dialogue in Paint will be on display at Arts Visalia from May 1st through May 28th with and opening reception to be held Saturday, May 8th from 6 to 8pm. In addition, Rubinstein will offer a public lecture on her work and its relationship to the larger Expressionist movement of the early Twentieth Century on Saturday, May 15th at 7pm.
