Tracy creates fantastical paintings that include her menagerie are animals, vintage pop culture figurines, VW, Low Rider and
other vehicular miniatures. Traditional/indigenous healing and wellness are also expressed in her paintings. For her ‘medicine’ can take many forms including art of all types, dance, music, food, plants, laughter, and social connection. Tracy emphasizes sweetness, connection, hope, sometimes exciting discord, love and also humor.
Cerse’s current series of mixed media postcard collages mounted on 4”x 6” panels began as an art “game” she first devised for herself as a coping strategy during Covid lockdowns. The base of each image is a vintage postcard from 1900 through the mid 1950s, some used and posted, others blank. The collaged imagery is culled from a range of original sources (vintage catalogs, school books, magazines, art books, etc.) and is usually combined utilizing her hand printed or painted papers, colored pencil and/ or acrylic pen work. Themes from past bodies of work do surface regularly such as autonomous women, or our relationship with nature. In general though, each piece is its’ own unique combination of the bizarre, funny, ironic, nostalgic, and/or beautiful.
