Through photos, videos, prints and drawings, Martin Azevedo explores ideas of symbolism, archetypes, masculinity, power, narrative, and allegory. Martin is intrigued when symbols interact on the same plane; by the conversation that occurs between many or few pieces layered together in one visual plane. He is interested in the simplicity of an image and its ability to convey the same or different idea or meaning to a group or individuals.
Martin was born and raised in Hanford, California. He received his BA in Art from California State University Chico and his MFA at Ohio State University. Continuing his studio work, Martin currently teaches at CSU Stanislaus in Turlock, California.
