Sharon was born and raised in Visalia, California, the daughter of Avery and Marilyn Thompson and sister of Pamela Ann (Thompson) Loop. She attended Conyer Elementary School, Divisadero Middle School, and eventually graduated from Mount Whitney High School in 1962. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree and teaching credential from California State University, Bakersfield, she served as a teacher in Tulare County, until her retirement in 2005. After retirement, she took up watercolor painting and became very active in the Visalia arts community, including the Visalia Art League, Arts Visalia, and the Tulare Palette Club. She became a prolific watercolor artist, producing and displaying her beautiful art pieces at local art galleries over the past several years.
