Peggee Davis’ sculptures and mixed media works pay homage to all the wonderful women in the world. Varying sizes and shapes reveal their diverse journeys, histories, identities, and personalities. The female forms emerging from Peggee’s hands express her feelings about the political times, the state of a friendship…the love she feels for her daughters…the challenge of the body itself. Her explorations with texture, embellishments, and size joyfully represent the feminine form and intricacy of women.
After studying art at York University in Toronto, Peggee pursued a career in arts administration and program development in the education system. In her retirement, having raised a family, Peggee was drawn to work with clay through which she contemplates the female body and the journey women have traveled to achieve parity, equality, and inclusion.
