For the past decade I have been conducting minimalistic compositional studies that focus on the painted line, creating a uniquely recognizable language of lines, arcs, life and music. Each painting couples with a stringed-instrument performance to create a multisensory gallery experience. In general, the painting has a musical composition accompanying it that was usually created that same evening, and then reenacted at the gallery reception. By avoiding color, the stark contrast between the black painted India Ink and the White Gesso background creates a bold and stark clarity. The negation of color also helps these paintings hang nicely in any environment. These balanced visual and musical compositions celebrate the human touch, and at their best, communicate a tranquil state of mind to those that share their environment.
