“Excursions” is a body of child-like paintings designed to take both the artist and the viewer on a whimsical vacation of sorts, where flowing brush lines and loose geometry create an otherworldly playful harmony. These fictional still-life pieces celebrate the freedom and fun of creative spontaneity.
“My goal is to speak with few words. There’s a boldness and starkness that I love about simple linework design that I’ve affectionately carried all my life. I see these pieces as musical as well. I literally created music, predominantly on guitars, during the process of the paintings. The two art forms inquire, and sometimes reference each other, during the creative process of both. Simply put, there is music in visual art and visual art in the music. This show will uniquely feature both the art and the music accompanying each other.”
