Tim Clark aims to unite the communities of the visually impaired and educate those with vision through his tactile ceramic sculptural works. He combines hand carved ceramic tiles with repurposed antique materials to create geometrical, wall-mounted sculptures designed to be touched to be experienced. Tim is inspired by his own visual impairment and his background in mechanical drawing.
Tim Clark began exploring ceramics in 2021 when he experienced a spontaneous retinal detachment resulting in blindness of his left eye. Multiple surgical attempts were unable to correct his vision. During each recovery process, with his left eye bandaged and swollen, he found himself drawn to tutorials of potters throwing clay. Watching wheel throwing was inspiring and relaxing and, as soon as he was able, he began taking classes with a local studio. Tim has since developed his own functional pottery business, Half Blind Pottery Company.
